Sega shared today a first look at the special PlayStation 3 hardware bundle it's preparing for the February release of Ryu ga Gotoku 3.
As previously detailed back in December, Sega will release a PS3 hardware bundle pack for Ryu ga Gotoku 3 opposite the game's standalone release on February 26.
Called the "Nobori Ryu Pack" (unofficially translates to "Rising Dragon Pack"), this bundle includes a copy of the game and a specially designed 80 gigabyte PS3 and will be priced at 45,980 yen. Production is limited to 10,000 units.
Both the packaging and system design for the bundle are themed around the game at hand. The packaging resembles the solo version's boxart, with a drawing of main character Kiryu Kazuma looking up to the sky while smoking a cigarette. The system, based off the ceramic white PS3, has dragon tattoo markings on its top.
Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced further details on a restructuring plan which will include consolidating facilities and reducing the work force.
Press Release: REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec 19, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) - EA expects the restructuring plan will result in annual cost savings of approximately $120 million and restructuring charges of approximately $55-65 million over the next several quarters.

Sony has announced plans to cut 8,000 electronics jobs - 5% of the division - as well as shutting 10% of its manufacturing sites.
The company said the jobs would be cut by April 2010 but did not say in which countries the staff would go. Sony said it had been trying to reduce production because of the downturn but warned it still had to do more.
The news came as Japan drastically raised its estimate of the amount its economy shrank from July to September. The Cabinet Office said the economy had shrunk at an annual rate of 1.8% in the quarter, down from its previous estimate of 0.4%.
Investment cut
Sony aims to generate cost savings of about 100bn yen ($1.1bn; £730m) by the end of the next financial year. It will cut its investment in electronic operations by 30% and shut down about 10% of its 57 production facilities.
"The number sounds big, but this staff reduction won't be enough," said Katsuhiko Mori, a ... More »

While perusing the aisles of my local Target this evening, I noticed something that caught my attention.
Nintendo has apparently just released a controller combo pack that includes a Wii Remote, Nunchuck, and Mario Kart Steering wheel, without telling a soul in the press. This is very bizarre as game companies usually like us to be aware of even the most mundane of its business moves (e.g. picture pack releases on Xbox Live.)
This is an officially licensed set that includes all authentic Nintendo accessories. Somewhat surprising though, is the $74.99 price point for the bundle.
Some may seek out the pack thinking they are getting a good deal, but don’t let this fool you. Nintendo has done nothing for the consumer in terms of savings. Bought separately, all of the items in the bundle cost the exact same price as the bundle. Technically, you would save two cents by purchasing them individually. Wii Remote ($39.99) + Wii Wheel ($14.99) + Nunchaku ... More »
