A gamer believes Sony is discriminating as they have banned words such as gay, lesbian, and bisexual from names of clubs or in postings in club forums as part of PlayStation Home.

To quote: Michael Marsh, an 18-year-old gamer from Norwalk, Conn., wanted to set up a gay/straight alliance club in PlayStation Home, Sony's new free 3-D virtual world component for the PlayStation 3.

The problem was that the words he was using - "gay," "lesbian" and "bisexual" - were being filtered from text chats and were not being allowed in the naming of clubs or in postings in club forums.

Marsh, who is straight but supports gay rights, said he raised the issue with Home community managers during the private beta test, but the problems persisted after the public beta introduction of Home on Dec. 11.

Here we go again... the Wall Street Journal aren't feeling too good about the possibility of the PlayStation 3 console's success.

In their latest article (linked above) they doubt it will come back and assert that the PS3 is sagging, while the XBox 360 and Wii are widening their leads.

They pick up on a number of factors including the PS3's price and lack of 'attractive' and exclusive titles.

To quote: With Stringer saying, 'We will be profitable,' you can't cut price," says Michael Pachter, a research analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities in Los Angeles. He expects Sony to cut prices at the start of its new fiscal year in April, which could help boost sales.

Sony also is suffering from a lack of attractive titles that are exclusive to the PS3. Microsoft has hit the jackpot with two action-adventure game franchises, Halo and Gears of War, which are available only on the Xbox 360. Most of Nintendo's top games are Made in house... More »

I want to say fiction. God, I hope the Final Fantasy series dies a slow and painful death so that I can laugh at it for all times, but the truth is that there is still a group of diehard freaks out there who are as loyal to the FF series as the Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering nerds and will force the release of Final Fantasy XIII in the next year.

When that happens, be prepared to listen to all of them whine about why it isn't a PS3 exclusive and, more importantly, how all of those who review the game are idiots because they didn't state that the game was the greatest thing ever made.
