Reports of the "Jasper" model of the Xbox 360 have been reported to have been in stores since as early as late September, and now a newer report gives us some better details on what to look for, particularly the output voltage on the power brick.

The Jasper chipset is, essentially, supposed to be better in every way, this including the amount of power it requires. So it seems, any 360 made after October 23, 2008 should have the chipset.

My only question is: why the heck wouldn't this be advertised and on the box? I guess if they did that a lot of unsuspecting customers would have suddenly been suspecting, meaning less sales since launch. Still!

Famitsu has some details in Yakuza 3, which is set to take off from where part 2 ended. This sequel includes a free camera which allows you to control your viewpoint, improved AI for town residents and thankfully a reduction in load time. Apparently, the transition from encounter to battle is now seamless.

To quote: Nagoshi told the magazine that the new title begins immediately after the events of part 2, as in right after that game's last scene. Kiryu and Haruka decide to head down to Okinawa, where they expect to find a peaceful life.

As previously announced, Yakuza 3 will alternate between Okinawa and the original's Tokyo-based location. There will be some similarities between the two locations, including the use of signs and shops from real world brands. Yakuza 3 has the highest number of tie-ups so far for the series, explained Nagoshi.

Yakuza veterans will see some improvements to the game's environments, outside of the obvious up in visua... More »

Originally scheduled to ship on October 21, EA has just announced that they're pushing up Dead Space's release date.

The sci-fi horror title will now ship October 14 on the Xbox 360 and PS3, a full week before the original date. (The PC version will still ship on the 21 - sorry PC gamers.)

This marks the second time Dead Space's release has been pushed forward, as the game was first slated to release on Halloween.

One of the most anticipated games of the year, Dead Space takes place aboard an immense mining ship, the USG Ishimura. It has come into contact with alien life in a distance star system, and when communications with earth are suddenly cut off, engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair them. Obviously, things don't go as planned and he finds himself thrust into the middle of a living nightmare, fighting to survive.

Press Release: Dead Space Set to Ship Early – Oct. 14, 2008

No doubt you’re familiar with the Universal Serial Bus – we ranked it as our top PC innovation of all time. But what do you know about the next version of this ubiquitous interface? USB 2.0 (otherwise known as USB Hi-Speed) boosted the original 12Mbps data rate to 480Mmb/s over eight years ago, and now USB 3.0 (dubbed USB Superspeed) is set to multiply that bandwidth tenfold.

The USB Implementers Forum (led by Intel) released the USB 3.0 spec to hardware partners last week after some reported disputes with AMD and Nvidia (who, afraid Intel would have a jump start in incorporating the tech in chipsets, threatened to develop their own USB standard). But how does this affect you? We dug up some new information about USB 3.0, got our hands on the new connectors, and even took a look inside the new cables.

USB 3.0 will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0
Like the upgrade from USB 1.1 to 2.0, the new 3.0 connectors and cables will be physically an... More »

The MGS Online BETA has been pushed back to the 25th of April. The Online BETA has been one of the most poorly executed BETA's on the PS3 so far.

There have been wrong activation codes, servers getting overloaded, and countless other problems.

Whether or not this will work when it goes live on the 25th is debatable. but what is certain is that the BETA has done nothing so far to help promote the game.

A majority of gamers have said that despite being the next-gen MGS, it hasn't made any major advancements.
